Beowulf 2007 (USA)

I think it is a really difficult task to transform an old Heroic poem dated between 8th and 10th century into a text, suitable to be shown to 21st century audience, and in the same time sticking to the story (as possible) and keeping the viewers' attention.
Beowulf's crew apparently did it. I had no high expectations about this movie, but I was impressed. Really liked the storytelling.
Not suitable for children though...

Mo jong yuen: So hat yi (1992) Hong Kong

An earlier movie of Stephen Chow, the man behind the classics Kung Fu Hustles and Sholin Soccer.
King of Beggars is in the style of earlier Jackie Chan comedies with lots of kung fu and hilarious situations, but touched by Chow's comedy genius.

Arahan jangpung daejakjeon (2004) - South Korea

I'm back with fresh movies. Well not so fresh if you consider the year 2004.
That's the Korean answer to Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, although it's less "cult" than the previous ones.
